ADHD? Is this just another fancy word you use to prove your superiority over other human beings? or is it just another social trend which gratifies your moral superiority over others?

In short, no it’s not! It’s more serious than that. You might think that some parents are constantly bragging about their kids having ADHD to gain public sympathy or trying to gain exposure in relevant communities.

Before judging someone’s brag-ability, let’s learn something about this issue. ADHD: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is a neuro-degenerative disorder which affects a vast number of people worldwide. It’s symptoms can begin from early childhood and might or might not persist for a very long time.

Children with ADHD shows various restlessness symptoms. Most common ones are not being able to focus on task, impulsiveness, disorganization, problems with multi-tasking, poor time management e.t.c

Children with ADHD have problem focusing on task.

At this very moment, ADHD is not that uncommon in our world. Just to give a little perspective on the issue, in 2016 there was about 10.2% prevalence of diagnosed ADHD among US children and adolescents. Which is roughly 3.16 million or about 1% of the total US population in 2016. [1]

Although it seems that developed nations are more prone to ADHD and other cognitive disorders, but developing nations are not very far behind. After all, developing nations are progressing toward being developed nations.

Number of people with ADHD worldwide. Male children's are more prone to ADHD than females.

Let’s try not to play any blame game here, but there seems to be co-relations between some modern factors that might be alleviating the progression of ADHD in some manners.

In recent years we have seen a great spike in digital appliances and their connectivity. Like TV, Internet and Mobile phones. In some ways children's and adolescents are more prone to being addicted toward those modern elements.

In this regard rest of the world in not very far behind. Thanks to cheaper electronics & appliances, all those modern luxuries are being globalized in a very fast pace. If the co-relation between Technology adoption and modernizing has something to do with ADHD then rest of the world will follow the trail soon.

A higher growth rate in global internet usage signifies the modern elements in action. There should be more global research focused on the co-relation between technology and prevalence of ADHD in a global perspective.
